So you like vinyl, huh?

If you like vinyl wall art, you are in luck because I've got a giveaway with your name on it!
Read on...

One of the coolest things about having a crafty/sewing blog is meeting other crafting/sewing types and sometimes even getting to work together.
Recently, Susannah over at uVinyl contacted me about collaborating on a vinyl project and giveaway. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance. I had been playing around with a swirling leaves design for awhile. She had the vinyl and designed the leaves in a couple designs and different colors.
Perfect pairing.

I must say the final result makes me very happy.
And Susannah is great to work with.
I asked her to tell you all a little bit about herself, and here she is...

I am a newlywed, recently moved, and decided
to start my own business all in the last 7 months. That has all been a
lot to get used to, but my passion for life and excitement over my
vinyl business help me continue. I love working with vinyl,
particulary, because it is an inexpensive way to personalize any room,
surface, decoration, or item. I think everyone should be able to make
their mark on the world, the way THEY want to, and not with an arm and
a leg :) That's why my slogan is "The world is yours to personalize.
Empower your inner designer!"

 {Such a perfect swirl of fall leaves...like they've just been blown through the front door}

So, here are the goods on the giveaway!
If you've been wanting some new vinyl wall art for your home or a little something to add to your holiday decor, head on over to Susannah's uVinyl blog and enter to win $30 in her uVinyl store
Details are here and you need to enter on her blog, not mine.
Good luck!

Oh, and in case you missed it, my quilted canister sleeves were featured over at Sew, Mama, Sew this weekend...

Queen Bee!

It isn't often that I get to leave the house sans kiddos,
and even less often that I get out with the girls and without kids.

But tomorrow, I get to do both with this crafty girl, Natalie, at the Queen Bee Market!
If you're in the San Diego area, it's being held at the Del Mar Hilton
{free admission means more cash to spend on handmade goodness}
and I'd love to meet other crafty folks there.

And, to sweeten the deal, it will be kid-less girl time checking out crafty homemade goods.
The only things that could make this better would be if I could drink some wine (not until April) and read a great book while checking out crafty goods.
Maybe I'll even bring my own wares to a show like Queen Bee someday way off in the future when the kids are in school and I have a little more time to create...

Oh, and I'll have a fun giveaway for you all next week just in time for Thanksgiving!
Something to do with these...

Where did fall go?

Or, I guess I should ask, "Where did fall decorations go?"

Maybe I haven't been paying attention these last few years.
Maybe stores have had to mercilessly slash the seasonal merchandise that doesn't bring in revenue.
Maybe I'm not quite ready for Christmas decorations (though you'll know when I am).
But, whatever the reason, I am having a heck of a time finding Thanksgiving decor. Apparently, I should have been looking for the perfect front door Thanksgiving wreath in October because there's nothing out there now.

But, have no fear. I am a crafty girl and I do love problem solving. So I took myself to Michaels (completely devoid of fall decor, for the record...I'm not bitter about this at all, not really) and scoured the many many Christmas displays until I found some sprigs bearing some resemblance to fall colors. Bonus: they're glittery {sidetracking...I love glittery holiday stuff. If it shimmers, it way ups the cheer factor for me}

Then I also found a dried grapevine wreath for dirt cheap. $3.99 for an 18" wreath - that might be one of the best deals in the store, especially when you use a coupon. Total cost for this project: $6.

Using wire cutters (stolen from the man of the house's tool chest), I hacked apart the sprigs.

Then I stuck them in the wreath until I was happy with the arrangement
Voila!

Baby Baby Baby

The belly at Kit Carson Park in Escondido...looking twice as big with the split in the mirrors.
If you live in San Diego, you've got to take the kids here. It's a huge, beautiful park with a sculpture garden to frolic in.

Yesterday we had the BIG ultrasound appointment and we're on our way to a sports team with another baby boy! This is our third boy (and, if you were wondering, our last little one to round out the circus) and I feel like I'm pretty well prepared for boy noises and messes. I love my boys and get them (up until about age 4 so far, anyhow) and there is something very touching about the tender beginnings of boys turning into men.

The kids heading under the central sculpture...

I am always so curious to learn all about the little personality developing even in the womb. And the little voice waiting to be heard is a wonder to me; with both of my boys I have loved their first words and growing thoughts. Words are a big deal to me, and their words are especially remarkable to me.

the kids romping through the "maze"...

Of course, part of being pregnant is preparing for the baby. So I've been thinking about the nursery and how I'll decorate it...you know, the really important part of having a baby... But nursery decorating leads to dreams of other decorating projects in the house. So now I've decided it would be fun to make over the master bedroom, maybe one of the many upholstered headboards out there, new bedding like this, or some new all art (way out of my price range, but so beautiful!) that makes some kind of statement about our home and life. There's nothing wrong with our bedroom, mind you. I'm just on a hormone-fueled daydreaming mission. Most likely, nothing will come of it, but I sure do like looking for inspiration.

For now, I'll content myself with looking at nursery bedding and wall art and planning the last of our baby spaces... Pin It

Treats and More Treats

I hope you had a wonderful Halloween!

The men of the house carved pumpkins...a little messy for Mommy...

I promptly roasted the seeds as soon as I could claim them.

And I made candy apples.

I LOVED candy apples as a kid.
The memory of a flavor wrapped up in an experience is never as good as the real thing, but these came pretty close.

I especially like the skulls reflected in the candy coating.

Now I'm off to raid our leftover candy...the baby likes candy. :)
